Fresh Linen and The Unexpected Joy It Can Bring

A fresh basket of linens waiting to be folded, really does bring me great joy.

As I stuck my nose in the pile of fresh laundry, inhaling the fresh scent, I wondered if that was a strange feature or love, to be filled with such immense joy at such a small or menial thing. My next thought was the realization that it is the small things, the little bits of joy in our day that make for such a beautiful life.

Our kitchen linens were starting to have a bit of an old laundry smell, a touch musty and as if they hadn’t been washed frequently enough or had sat in a cupboard a bit too long.

I normally wash our kitchen towels in hot water on the normal cycle of our machine but thought to use the same method I employ for our whites - the sanitize cycle - very hot water with steam and added a capful of The Laundress All-Purpose Bleach Alternative with their Whites Detergent and these beautiful linens have never smelled fresher. I always hang my linens to dry on our drying rack and then pop them in the dryer on the air fluff cycle for a few minutes to soften them.

I was hesitant for a long time to utilize the sanitize cycle with linen but to my surprise, these pieces held up beautifully.
